Agencies often don’t want to employ temporary workers so will look to use the services of an Umbrella Company. By using a compliant company like Umbrellaphant, the overheads, employment risk and administrative responsibilities are minimised for agencies and passed to us as the employer.

There are many benefits of being employed by Umbrellaphant including

  • FCSA approved so you know you’re paying the right taxes
  • Employee benefits if you’re off sick or expanding your family
  • Access to a workplace pension
  • Flexible holiday pay options to suit you.
  • Full insurance
  • Online portal and mobile app so you have access whenever and wherever you need it.

When working through Umbrellaphant Ltd, we employ you and you work as a PAYE employee.  This means that you receive all the employment rights and protection of someone working in full-time employment.

We find most agencies now use self-billing – which means they process your payment based on your approved timesheet. If the agency does require an invoice, our team will provide you access to our online portal which allow you to upload your timesheet.

You have the right to 5.6 weeks (28 days) per annum holiday. You can choose to have this advanced, or we will accrue and pay this when you take time off. You are entitled to Statutory Sick Pay assuming you follow the correct notification process and meet the eligibility criteria.

The employment costs are Employers National Insurance Contribution, the Apprenticeship Levy, and the Employers Pension Contribution.

We receive an Umbrella assignment rate from your agency, which combines your PAYE rate and these costs.

We then deduct the costs from the Umbrella rate and arrive at your gross pay. More information can be found here https://www.gov.uk/guidance/working-through-an-umbrella-company

Yes you will receive a payslip via email and an SMS of your net payment as soon as it has been made.

In 2012 the UK Government introduced new legislation making it compulsory for employers to provide a workplace pension for their employees. Umbrellaphant will enrol you into NEST – our workplace pension provider after 12 weeks. You will have the option to Opt Out if you choose.
